RestPoll Survey: Consumer willingness to purchase pollinator-friendly products

You are invited to participate in a consumer survey titled “Consumer willingness to purchase pollinator-friendly products”. You must be at least 18 years old in order to take part. It is important for you to understand why the research is being done and what it will involve. Please take time to read the following information carefully.

This study is being conducted by the University of Reading and the University of Cambridge.

This consumer survey is being carried out as part of the European Project RestPoll (Restoring Pollinator habitats across European agricultural landscapes based on multi-actor participatory approaches). The aim is to investigate the willingness to purchase food products produced with pollinator-friendly methods. The results of the survey will be used in the context of the development of a 'pollinator-friendly' product label.

Participation in this study is entirely voluntary at all times.  You can choose not to participate at all or to leave the study at any point.

You are being asked to take part in this study as a consumer purchasing food products.

If you agree to participate, you will be asked to fill out one questionnaire about your intention to purchase food products with a pollinator-friendly label, your willingness to pay a price premium for such products and questions about your demographic and socio-economic background. This survey should take around 20 minutes to complete.

All of your responses to this survey will remain anonymous and cannot be linked to you in any way.  No identifying information about you will be collected at any point during the study, and your response will be associated only with a number on the LimeSurvey online survey tool.  You are free to withdraw from this study at any time.  However, once you submit your completed survey, there will be no way to withdraw your responses from the study because the survey contains no identifying information.

The University of Thessaly in Greece is the organisation responsible for the overall processing of data. Survey data will be kept either in a digital or paper format in an online database or in a safe space of the project partner’s organisation.  Access to digital data will be protected through a password.  Only the immediate project team will have access to the data. Data from today’s activities will be analysed and results will be presented at conferences and published in scientific journals. The results will also be used in communications relating to the RestPoll project.

There are no risks associated with this study. While you will not experience any direct benefits from participation, information collected in this study will help us better understand consumers’ intentions and develop strategies to promote pollinator-friendly products.

If you have any questions regarding the survey or this research project in general, please contact Simon Potts (University of Reading) at s.g.potts@reading.ac.uk or Tom Breeze (University of Reading) at t.d.breeze@reading.ac.uk and Lynn Dicks (University of Cambridge) at lvd22@cam.ac.uk.

By completing and submitting this survey, you are indicating your consent to participate in this study.
